So I came across these two maps. You may notice something very interesting about them that will open your mind to that knowledge.
This map was of the Middle East but tucked away in a corner was a visual representation of how the United States' size compared to all the other countries in the region. To me, it it was more or less a commentary of where the U.S. has the greatest influences. Notice how it takes up Egypt, Israel, Jordan, parts of Saudi Arabia, and some of Iraq and Afghanistan. Damn.
This map they have posted at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. It is map of the world upside down. It is formally entitled: "Whats Up? South!" World Map. Click the image for a larger, closer look. This was pretty dope because it allows you to think of things in a different way than we have always seen it. A lil' bit o' social construction
