UPDATE 3:  Your boy on Holy Crackers!

Holla at cha boy!  This past weekend I had the pleasure of hosting "We Clean Up Nice," a fashion and performing arts show put on by the Thaakat Foundation and CARE.  It was amazing!  Not only did all the proceeds from the event go straight to charity, food was provided, we were blessed with fantastic fashion from local designers, amazing performers volunteered their time for a great cause, and everyone was having the time of their life.  A great night.

I wanted to give 3 shout outs in particular:

1. Nabiha Ahmed:  President of the Rutgers University Thakaat Foundation Chapter.  She put on a great show despite all odds.  Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the food, fashion, and fine entertainment.  Thank you Nabiha for the opportunity to be part of something great!

2.  Uzma Bawany Ali:  Executive Director of the Thakaat Foundation.  This woman is a role model for everyone aspiring to do great things with their life.  I admire this woman for the initiative she has undertaken to help individuals in a pragmatic and sustainable way.  Oftentimes, when NGOs set out to "save the world" they end up underestimating reality.  However, from my impression, Uzma has set out to differentiate her foundation from everyone else by sticking to reasonable, plausible goals.  Definitely check out the Thakaat Foundation, and support the cause!  And definitely try to meet this determined, diligent, and thoughtful person!

3.  Neil, Sonny, Kamal, and the rest of RUDE (Rutgers University Dhol Effect).  A huge shout out to these guys for first and foremost being so down to earth and humble.  They are pioneers in what they do, and they are the ONLY individuals out there in the university-universe doing it.  They could so very well be obnoxious and arrogant for being so talented, but these guys are more interested in having fun and celebrating music.  For those of you who don't know (that was me a week ago) they are musical ensemble that fuses the traditional Punjabi celebratory drum, Dhol, with other popular western instrumentation.  As an MC, I have seen hundreds of student organizations perform, and I am willing to say that RUDE is among my top two favorite performance groups of all time  (sorry UNC's Ek Taal you are third,  Delaware Kamaal and NYU Pandemonium  y'all are fourth)

Check out some footage of RUDE from the show this past weekend (including a snippet of my "Teach Me How to Bhangra" dance, featuring moves from the Dhoom Bros.) :
